The Wounded Warriors

The Yankees enjoyed a memorable Monday at the White House when they met President Barack Obama. Prior to their visit was an experience several players coined a sobering experience, a visit to wounded warriors at Walter Reed Medical Center and the Mologne House, "the real heroes" according to Alex Rodriguez.

This photo, provided by the Yankees, is Derek Jeter greeting many of the brave men and women who served our country. Before they head to Baltimore to open a three-game set against the Orioles, Yankees players and staff will display the World Series trophy before the office of Dan Rosenblatt, Executive Director of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, a non-profit organization that represents 20,000 police executives in over 89 countries. In the afternoon it's a meet-and-greet with Supreme Court Justice and Bronx native Sonia Sotomayor, followed by lunch in the United States Senate Dining Room with wounded warriors and U.S. senators.

Furthermore, 20 wounded veterans —10 from from Walter Reed and 10 from Bethesda Naval Hospital — will be the Yankees' invited on-field guests prior to tonight's game during batting practice. Tomorrow, selected players will visit the Bethesda Naval Hospital and display the trophy at a Pentagon luncheon followed by a tour through the Pentagon offices.
