Good pitching and a lot of hitting sent the Yankees to a 12-3 win against the White Sox on Sunday. “When you see Brett Gardner hit a home run, you know things are going well,” Mark Teixeira said. Phil Hughes pitched seven scoreless innings as the Yankees won yet another series. Brian Heyman has the story.

The Yankees got the win without Curtis Granderson, who is expected to miss a month with a strained left groin. The notebook also has items on Alex Rodriguez and the possibility of skipping Javier Vazquez’s next start.
